Day 1: Arrival in Lima hotel included 

  • Arrive at Jorge Chavez International Airport in Lima, Peru (LIM)

  • Driver picks you up and brings you to your hotel

 
Day 2: Lima City Tour hotel included breakfast included

  • 8:00 AM: breakfast in your hotel (included)

  • 9:00 AM: visit Miraflores, the "Parque del Amor" and Huaca_Pucllana

  • Visit Larco Museum

  • Lunch at La Punta (with a possible sailboat tour after)

  • Visit old downtown Lima

  • US$20 extra fee: attend a Peña (Peruvian folk dance)

 
Day 3: Travel to Ica hotel included breakfast included

  • 8:00 AM breakfast at hotel (included)

  • Meet at 9:00 AM for bus trip

  • Visit Pachacamac ruins

  • About 12:30 PM lunch at restaurant

  • Visit Ocucaje fossil location

  • Arrive at hotel

Day 4: Islas Ballestas y Nazca Lines hotel included breakfast included

  • 7:00 AM beakfast at hotel (included)

  • Meet at 8:00 AM to walk to pier

  • Boat trip to Islas Ballestas

  • 11:30 AM return from island: souvenir shopping and snacks

  • Group decision: go to see how Pisco is made,
    OR visit ceramic workshop to see how ancient pottery was made or learn about gold production

  • Light lunch (before flight!)

  • Drive to Nazca airport

  • About 4:00 PM: fly over lines of Nazca to see figures

  • Check in at hotel in Nazca

 

 
 
Day 5: Pampa Galeras hotel included breakfast included

 
Day 6: Travel from Cusco to Sacred Valley hotel included breakfast included

  • 8:00 AM Breakfast at hotel (included)

  • 9:00 AM Visit Sachsayhuaman ruins (my English customers always pronounce this as the "Sexy Woman" ruins!)

  • 10:00 AM Continue with visits to ruins of Kenko, Puca Pucara, Tambomachay

  • 1:00 PM Lunch in Pisac market

  • 2:00 PM Leave for Ollantaytambo (click here more about Ollantaytambo)

  • 4:00 PM Visit Ollantaytambo ruins (steep climb)

  • 7:00 PM dinner and overnight in Ollantaytambo

 

*** IMPORTANT: you are only allowed 10 kilos (20 pounds) in a backpack for your trip to Machu Picchu. Pack a small backpack tonight for day 13 and day 14! You can leave the rest of your luggage in the hotel. ***

 
Day 7: Guided tour of Machu Picchu hotel included breakfast included

  • 8:00 AM Breakfast at hotel (included)

  • 9:00 AM Take the "vista-dome" (a glass topped train) to Machu Picchu (your train ticket and entrance fee to Machu Picchu is included)

  • 11:00 PM Arrive in Machu Picchu

  • 11:00 - 5:00 PM (about) Visit Machu Picchu return to Aguas Caliente on foot (1.5 hours) or by bus

  • 5:00 PM Stay overnight in Aguas Calientes (close to Machu Picchu)

 

 
Day 8: Explore Machu Picchu on Your Own! hotel included breakfast included

  • 8:00 AM Breakfast at hotel (included)

  • 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM Take bus to Machu Picchu or tour Aguas Caliente

  • 4:00 PM Take train back to Ollantaytambo

  • 6:00 PM Return to hotel in Ollantaytambo and get your luggage back

  • 7:00 PM Dinner in Ollantaytambo

 
Day 9: Return to Cusco hotel included breakfast included

  • 8:00 AM Breakfast at hotel (included)

  • 9:00 AM Get on bus and travel to Cusco. Stops to visit Maras salt pans, Moray ruins and the town of Chinchero.

  • 12:30 PM Lunch in Cusco

  • 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM Tour of Cusco

  • 8:00 PM Farewell dinner and peña (a Peruvian folk dance)

 

 
Day 10: Return to Lima  breakfast included

  • 8:00 AM: breakfast at hotel (included)

  • Morning free to rest and pack and eat lunch

  • 1:00 PM: return flight to Lima (about a one hour flight)

  • all travel is private transportation for our group except for the boat trips to Islas Ballestas and Lake Titicaca and the train ride to Machu Picchu

Your tour of Peru does not include:

  • airport departure tax from Lima (about $30)

What you should bring to Peru:

  • comfortable hiking boots
  • a warm jacket and a raincoatone sweater (but many people prefer to buy one in Peru...alpaca sweaters cost from $15 to $150)
  • sun tan lotion, sun glasses, and a hat
  • insect repellant
  • at least one pair of shorts and two pair of long pants
  • a backpack
